Above it All, Costa Mesa: Preventing Relapse with More Than Addiction Treatment.
One of the most challenging parts of the addiction recovery process is often returning to a normal life. Although you may try to avoid stressors like the plaque, we all have to face temptations at one time or another. Remember that recovery is a lifetime process and relapse does not mean failure.
Here at Above It All, we ensure that you are fully equipped in your fight against addiction by creating and customizing essential tools needed to beat whatever life throws your way. These tools are tailored to your needs and will help prevent relapse once you return home.
How to Prevent Relapse from happening?
There are various ways a substance relapse can occur and since the recovery process continues long after a client completes their clinical therapy, we believe that it is necessary to receive frequent support and encouragement from others who are in recovery. When leaving the Above It All facilities, it is crucial to understand that you are not alone and that there are others who have experienced similar challenges. We can help you get in touch with these people and have you participate in a support group that will also help you stay on track.
It is important to note that one of the keys to relapse prevention is to be of sound mind. If you feel anxiety, defensiveness, anger, intolerance, mood swings, and other negative feelings or if you stop going to meetings and don’t ask for help while feeling the need for isolation, having poor eating and sleeping habits, relapse is possible. Therefore, it’s crucial that you seek help if you experience any of these symptoms.
Do not hesitate to contact us at Above It All if you are experiencing struggles or ongoing needs. We stay in contact with our alumni long after their substance abuse treatment because they are truly invaluable to us and can help you succeed.
